What is hypnosis or trance?
You may be surprised to know that trance is a very normal state, which we go in and out of several times a day. When we are engrossed in a book or watching TV and have a sensation that we've drifted off, that is being in trance.
How does being in trance help?
In the therapy room hypnosis helps us to truly relax. During this experience our brain waves change allowing our subconscious mind to become receptive to beneficial suggestions which will motivate you to make decisions and changes.
How will I feel when I'm being hypnotised?
Everyone experiences trance slightly differently. Most people find it enjoyable, relaxing and calming and leave the hypnotherapy session feeling positive and optimistic.
Will I lose control?
Unlike images portrayed in the media, hypnosis doesn’t involve the therapist taking control of your mind - the therapeutc process is all about YOU taking control and no-one can make you do anything you don't want to.
Does hypnotherapy work with children and young people?
Yes, I have worked with children as young as 7 and many teenagers. Young children have very vivid imaginations and respond well to hypnotherapy. Sessions will be shorter with very young children and charged on a pro rata rate.
How many sessions will I need?
This will depend on what you cme to hypnotherapy for - e.g. a quit smoking session is a one-off 2 hour session and a 'simple' phobia will usually be 4 sessions. Other issues will vary but YOU are always in control. Generally treatment works best if we can have a few sessions on a more or less weekly basis which we spread out over time.
Does hypnotherapy work on Zoom?
Yes! As long as you have a reasonable internet connection and a private space, hypnotherapy can be just as effection online. Zoom is easy to use with no need to download additional programmes. It has the added advantage of no travel time and of course, complete safety.
